Synopsis: The provision of libraries and university reform was the product of enlightened patronage. This programme looks at the patronage of Thomas Bodley and Archbishop Laud at Oxford, Cardinal Mazarin in Paris and Archbishop Marsh in Dublin, and the institutions they founded and endowed with books.
