Language Development in Young Children

Synopsis
Dr Louise Higgins, a psychologist at Chester College, has recorded her daughter’s first sounds from birth to the age of three. This was done at home (Piaget style) from first cries to nursery rhymes. Dr Higgins provides a non-technical explanation at each stage. Language is a two-way communication; babies can initiate conversation as well as take part in it. Examples of this are given so that listeners can hear how it develops and know what to watch for.
