Krishna in Spring
- Synopsis
- 'Holi’, the Indian festival of spring, retells through music and dance the story of the life of Krishna, the Indian god of love and the arts. Krishna is portrayed through poetry and songs, dance drama and painting, against a background of scenes from places such as Mathura, Brindaban and Barana, which are related to the life of Krishna. ‘Holi’ provides a link between the past and the present folk religions of India. Most of the musical scenes in this film come from actual temple ceremonies revealing the importance of music in the social and religious life of the Hindus.
