Synopsis: The Kazakhs are horse-riding herders of sheep and yak, living on a vast territory administratively called East Wind Commune in Sinkiang province of China. For the first time a western television team was given access to one of these groups and was allowed to spend six weeks filming a detailed account of their daily life. Illustrates how the Kazakh way of life has changed as a result of Communist control and the continued (but limited) assertion of Kazakh identity.*
