Katowice

Synopsis
Shows how municipal authorities in Katowice, Poland, have joined forces with the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements (Habitat) to look at ways of improving health conditions and making it a more sustainable city. Currently 20% of the surrounding land is unfit for agriculture, two-thirds of the water supply is too contaminatated even for industrial use, and the area has the highest infant mortality in the whole of Poland.
