Synopsis
Series looking at the exploration of shipwrecks. In six parts on two videocassettes, narrated by Ian McShane.
Video 1: 1) The Mystery of the M1 (director Tim Lambert): Richard Larn dives to solve the mystery of the ‘M1’, a Royal Navy submarine that vanished in the English Channel in 1925; 2) Blackbeard’s Revenge (director Danielle Peck): a 300-year-old wreck off the North Carolina coast, possibly that of ‘Queen Mary’s Revenge’, flagship of Blackbeard the pirate; 3) Pandora’s Secrets (director Sian Griffiths): Peter Gesner investigates the wreck of the HMS ‘Pandora’, sent in 1791 to the South Pacific to capture the ‘Bounty’ mutinists.
Video 2: 4) Cromwell’s Forgotten Wreck (director Sian Griffiths): Colin Martin dives in the Sound of Mull to learn whether a wreck is that of Oliver Cromwell’s ‘The Swan’; 5) The Lost Fleet (director Mike Rossiter): Barry Clifford searchs for the remains of a French fleet that disappeared off Venezuela over 300 years ago; 6) Priceless Cargo (director Paul Bradshaw): Steve Sargison in the Philippines hunts for the Spanish galleon ‘Esperanza’, which sank in 1806 with a cargo of precious commodities and for the ‘Kuda Maru’, used by the Japanese in World War 2 to transport stolen gold.
