John Lyall: Context and Catalyst

Synopsis
John Lyall’s award-winning work covers a variety of building types. Lyall is equally at home with historic restoration and inventive modern buildings. In this talk he distinguishes between schemes which must act as a catalyst in areas bereft of existing context, and those where there is a clear urban context and which require a great deal of preparatory research. He describes his London railway station designs and his urban regeneration schemes in Leeds, Norwich and Cardiff.
