- Synopsis
- Looks at the life and work of John Dewey (1859-1952), who wrote extensively about philosophy, psychology, education, political science, and the arts, and introduces his philosophy and his critical studies of education, the arts and the implications of democracy for the lives of individuals and their comunities. He was a teacher, social critic, political activist and involved family man. Contemporary examples of the influence of his work include footage of Deborah Meier’s New Mission School in Massachusetts, Louise Rosenblatt on Dewey’s theories of the arts; and philosopher Larry Hickman on the ways technology changes our experiencing of the world.
