Art and the Left
- Synopsis
- This programme is structured around interviews conducted in November 1991 by Francis Frascina with artists, critics and museum curators active in resistance to the Vietnam War, and racism in the USA during and after the 1960s. It begins with the testimony of Nancy Spero and Martha Rosler who, though from different generations, changed the direction of their art practices in response to their opposition to US involvement to Vietnam. Other artists’ and critics’ recollections of the period and illustrations of their work are included. The legacy of the late 1960s, symbolically described as ‘1968’, is considered from the perspective of the critical options and strategies of artists on the left and of institutions that attempted to provide critical alternatives to mainstream museums.

At present the Open University Students Association (OUSA) will continue to sell the "Good Study Guide", and we are in discussion with other possible distributors to continue to make The Open University’s products available for purchase. As soon as we have any information on other channels of distribution we will update this notice’. Some products are still available via second hand dealers on Amazon.co.uk
