Synopsis
Looks at Japan’s dream of a future which will be clean, serene and bursting with new-age technology. New areas of research (fuzzy logic, opto-neural computers) have pushed the frontiers of traditional research methods. Everywhere the demand is for a physical and psychological environment which promotes creativity. New cities, with names like Technopolis, Aeropolis and Modetopia promise future city landscapes designed to be ecologically balanced. Magnetic levitation transport, new materials, and projects in biotechnology promise to transform the environment of the future. Asks how other countries should respond to thie revolutionary vision of science, social living and urban geography.
