Synopsis
CITY WATCH is a series of six films about Birmingham’s Environmental Services Department. Each film follows an individual or a group of environmental health officers and other officials on a ‘typical’ day as they try to protect the people of Birmingham from diseases, filth, fraud and unscrupulous landlords. They are responsible for food hygiene and infectious diseases, health and safety, environmental protection, coroner’s services, veterinary services, waste disposal, fraud and special investigation, motor vehicle investigation & fair trading. This film looks at the work of Birmingham’s dog warden as he tries to cope with the multitude of complaints and enquiries ranging from genuine strays to dogs that are let loose during the day or dogs which are cooped up and never let out for exercise.
