It in Services

Synopsis
Public utilities are being transformed. Through microprocessors we will control the use of electricity in the home, be warned automatically of electrical faults and pay the bills. Cable television, interactive video and viewdata are changing the role of television in the home. Bus services can be made more efficient; localised warnings of freak weather conditions can be given and the time and density of rainfall predicted; pollution in rivers can be identified by ‘speaking’ computers.*
