Inversion Fault Structures

Synopsis
Shows experiments made at the University of London’s Royal Holloway and Bedford New College in order to uderstand the processes that produce the complex and varied patterns of faulting and folding encountered during exploration for petroleum. Dr Ken McClsy uses scaled sandbox experiments to produce analogues of both extentional and inversion regimes. These experiments are filmed using time lapse techniques, allowing for examination of the dynamic development of the fault structures that result. In this film four inversion models are presented and the modelling techniques and their relevance to seismic sections are discussed.
