Introduction to Qsar
- Synopsis
- A teaching package covering the basics of drug design using Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships (QSARs), introducing the concept together with practicalities relating to what QSAR can and cannot do and how it can be generated using multiple linear regression techniques. Also covers the theoretical basis behind several substituent constants: 1) the Hammett electronic substituent constant (s); variants on the Hammett electronic substituent constant (s-, s+ and s*); the Taft steric substituent constant (Es) and the Hansch/Fujita hydrophobicity substituent constant (p). Suitable for self-paced open-learning or as a part of a lecture course. Approximately 2 hours of teaching material.
