An introduction to the subject of echocardiology. Part 1 explains the physics. Part 2 explains the position of the heart in the thorax and the anatomy of the heart itself from the point of view of the echocardiographer. Part 3 illustrates by means of moving diagrams of the cardiac structures, how the traces seen on our M-mode echocardiographic recordings are related to the movements taking place within the heart.
