Synopsis
An overview of the nature and function of cells. Uses computer animation to show and describe some of the parts of the typical animal cell, including the cell menbrane, endoplasmic reticulum, nucleus, mitochondria, lysosomes and Golgi bodies. Explains the major differences between animal and plant cells, and describes how photosynthesis occurs in chloroplasts. Shows how different cells have specialised architectures. Examples of plant cells include root cells and xylum cells; human cells include skin, nerve muscle, bone, red bloood and white blood cells.
