Intervertebral Disc Protrusion

Synopsis
Intervertebral disc protrusionn, with its disabling symptoms of low back pain and sciatica, frequently afflicts young, otherwise healthy adults. Successful therapy is often dependent on excision of the protruded disc. Indications for surgery, confirmations of diagnosis (using radiculography), the relevant anatomy and operation plan are illustrated and discussed. Placing and preparation of the patient and operation site are detailed. Procedures are then shown through the operating microscope, giving a clear view of techniques employed and precautions taken. Final emphasis on wound closure and dressing to allow earliest mobilisation and rehabilitation of patients.
