Instruments of the Orchestra/Steps of the Ballet

Synopsis
Two classic education films of the 1940s from the Crown Film Unit. INSTRUMENTS OF THE ORCHESTRA features Sir Malcolm Sargent and the London Symphony Orchestra and centres around specially composed music by Benjamin Britten, later to become known as ‘The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra’. This is the first performance in its original context. STEPS OF THE BALLET is a sequel which, with Robert Helpmann, introduces the audience to basic ballet steps, shows how a ballet is put together, rehearsed and finally performed to a specially written score by Arthur Benjamin.
