Infrared Spectroscopy
- Synopsis
- Methods for solid and liquid sample preparation and determination of routine spectra are described, including criteria for assessing the quality of spectra. Includes preparation of liquid and solid samples as capillary film and Nujol mull respectively, using potassium bromide plates; determination of the IR spectrum in the region 600-4000cm-1; and consideration of the quality of the spectra and the steps to be taken to improve quality. The instrument used is the Perkin-Elmer 1310 IR spectrometer, but similar procedures will apply to all routine instruments.
