Synopsis
Shows Liverpool and Manchester at their most ambitious and exciting phase of architectural development, during the Victorian and Edwardian periods, with views of buildings from original site photographs. Examples of Manchester buildings include Alfred Waterhouse’s Town Hall and Refuge Assurance Building and the City Police Courts designed by Thomas Worthington. The Anglican Cathedral designed by Gilbert Scott, the Pierhead buildings, and the Albert Dock comprise the Liverpool examples.
