Synopsis
Looks at the history of the semiconductor transistor, the silicon chip that controls computers, mobile phones and many other electical products. Talks to Gordon Moore, a found of semiconductor manufacturer Intel, whose rule of thumb sas that processor power doubles every 18 months. For 30 years Moore’s Law has held true, but it is predicted that silicon may no longer be viable as soon as 2012.
