- Synopsis
- Looks at five National Trust houses that contain outstanding and historically significant picture collections - Kingston Lacy, Petworth, Calke Abbey, Stourhead and Kedleston - and introduces some of the paintings. By showing gardens and architecture and the settings for the paintings, and by discussing when and by whom the collections were built, the programme provides an insight into the history of patronage and taste in Britain.
