In the Club: Birth Control This Century (3 Parts)

Subtitle
We were all young once
Synopsis
A series discussing the history of birth control in Britain told through personal experiences of women and doctors.
1: Looks at courting and the fears of pregnancy and different moral values which kept young people in the 1920s and 1930s from ‘going all the way’.
2: Being able to plan families successfully is a post-war phenomenon. In the 1920s mothers were burdened with unwanted pregnancies and many resorted to back street abortions. The family planners knew that they could transform married life but were not allowed publicity because sex itself was a taboo subject.
3: The campaigning side of the birth control movement, from the founding of the first clinics to the latest abortion campaigns.
