Synopsis
During the first two years of life babies form a basic understanding of the physical world around them and are able to co-ordinate a large number of skills. The film reveals how this development takes place. A selection of children is observed and tested to reveal their individual levels of understanding. Traces the stages of development and stresses the important role that parents and others play in this process. Much of what an infant will be like as a child, or even as an adult, will be determined during this period.
