It distinguishes two complementary arms of the immune sytem, the antibody response and cell-mediated immunity and outlines the crucial features of each. The cells responsible for both arms of the response are shown to be the different classes of T and B lymphocytes. The origins and differentiation of these cells are described, and the development of the repertoire of cells with different specificities is outlined. Also demonstrates the techniques that can be used to distinguish the various lymphocyte lineages.
