Synopsis: Focuses on the cultural effects of the transformation of television broadcasting in India by examining the rapid rise in the provision of satellite and cable television and their role in reconstituting the cultural contours of caste, class and gender. Interviews with Indian academics and representatives of Zee TV, the Star television network and other television and film production companies are supported bymaterial illustsrating television viewing in a number of urban and rural locations in India.
