I’m a Loudmouth
- Synopsis
- The Loudmouth Action Group (made up of people who were removed from the mainstream education and placed in ‘special schools’ for children with learning difficulties), speak about their personal experiences. They explain that, in varying degrees, they still find certain everyday activities, involving reading, writing and talking a problem. This may be because of a sight or speech impediment or simply a lack of confidence. Some of them also have difficulties in making friends and so suffer from isolation and loneliness. The programme shows how the group meets every two weeks to discuss problems, to help each other with, for example, filling in forms and to socialise in an unthreatening atmosphere. Stresses the benefits of integration for both the children with learning difficulties and for society as a whole.
