- The life cycle of ‘Schistosoma spp.' illustrated with living material obtained from experimental infections in mice and hamsters. Animated diagrams show the passage of the eggs into the faeces, the stages of development within the snail vector, the cercariae penetrating the skin of the host and their subsequent passage to the liver and circulatory system. Laboratory maintenance of ‘Schistosoma spp.' Chemotherapy. The effect of active drugs upon the worms is discussed and the mechanisms of relapse and cure in mice is explained.
