- Description
- Episode of a reading of Mary Webb’s 1924 novel, Precious Bane. The story is narrated by the character of Prue Sarn. Work on the farm stands still after the fire. Gideon is obsessed with revenge on wizard Beguildy, whose family have been evicted from their home. Mrs Sarn falls ill one day. Prue passes by the house of Kester Woodseaves while on the way to get a doctor for her mother, and feels sad for him.Trivvy Sexton is trying her best to seduce Gideon and has almost succeeded. One day when Trivvy is present in the Sarn kitchen, Jancis arrives on their doorstep, with a baby.
