- Feature presented by Tom Maddocks as the luxury train, the Orient Express, reaches its centenary (first train October 4th 1883) looking at its development, history, interesting incidents, inspiring of fiction and films and the recent revival of the luxury service by millionaire James Sherwood with carriage restoration at Carnforth. Includes interviews with railway historian Kenneth Westcott-Jones; Shirley Sherwood, author of a history of the train (and wife of James); James Sherwood; Tim Robbins, UK train manager for the new service; George Walker, supervisor of restoration of carriages; Bob White, carriage painter; Ray Vinegar(?) train manager, as they travel through France, and UK train manager as they go up to London; vox pop with passengers; archive adverts for the train in French and English; clips from the films Murder on the Orient Express and Hitchcock’s The Lady Vanishes.
