- Reading of A Cup of Tea, a 1922 short story by Katherine Mansfield. The story follows society lady Rosemary Fell who meets a poor girl named Miss Smith and invites her to tea. Rosemary’s husband Philip does not approve, but remarks that the pauper is pretty. After giving the girl money and seeing her off, Rosemary gets dressed up and asks her husband if she can buy an expensive box she saw that morning, while actually wishing he would tell her she was pretty too.
