- Description
- Up to 10,000 pounds will be available to black people setting up new businesses, and those already operating one can get 6,000 pounds for every new job they create, as part of a new scheme introduced by the Labour Party. The scheme is not available to white-run businesses and Conservative Party leaders are against it. Conservative Councillor Brian Mogford says everyone in the (unidentified) county (poss. West Midlands) should be treated equally and no one should be discriminated against. Labour Councillor Geoff Edge, chairman of the council’s economic development committee, says he does not deny the discrimination, but it is justified because black business people have particular disadvantages.
