Description
The Yorkshire Ripper. This Network programme examines the death of student Barbara Leach, the twelfth murder victim of the Yorkshire Ripper, in Bradford on 02/09/79. Also examines the background to the Ripper’s past murders and the hunt by West Yorkshire Police for the killer. Speakers include: John Humble (whose voice appears on the Yorkshire Ripper tape sent to police, later revealed to be a hoax); Beryl Leach, mother of Barbara; David Leach, father of Barbara; Richard Hoban, son of the late Detective Chief Superintendent Dennis Hoban; Jamilla and Carol, prostitutes from Bradford; Reg Bull, Bradford Students Union; unidentified female residents near the Barbara Leach murder scene; Assistant Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police, George Oldfield; Chief Superintentent of West Yorkshire Police, Jim Hobson; Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police, Ronald Gregory; Dr Rod Watson, criminal sociologist; Tim Wyatt, suspect and Pennine Radio employee; Trish Calvert(?), protest organiser against police curfew.
