Description

Lawrence Spicer presents a programme on the Jewish Welfare Board, formed by 3 synagogues in London in the 1800s when the Jews of antisemitic Europe were fleeing to England. The Board helps support the Jewish community by running day centres and setting up loans and its industrial departments help people find work. The programme visits the Jewish communities, and sees the work the Board is doing for all classes of Jewish society.
