Description

Documentary on how the face of British politics is changing due to the shifting of party loyalties, and the impact of this on traditional two-party politics. The emergence of the Liberal Party as a political force due to their alliance with the new SDP. Shift of Labour to the left and of the Conservative Party further to the right; it tracks the changes back to the 1930s’ disasters in the Labour Party, and considers how Labour has been left demoralised recently due to the Tories’ success at the last election. Speaking are: Michael Jones, Manny (Emanuel) Shinwell, Tom Nossiter, Richard Marsh, Ian Gilmour, Harold Macmillan.
