- Description
- Ethiopia is suffering from famine, due to no rainfall for 4 years. Decision Makers looks at Britain’s policies regarding the world’s hungry. The British public have raised money, but the Conservative Government cut the aid budget to reduce public spending. Conservative Tim Eggar explains why the budget was cut, and how much aid we do actually send. Adrian Hewitt, of Overseas Development, states there is greater public support for giving aid, but accuses the Government of only giving aid to countries it wants for political allies. The aid that is sent is discussed: how it is distributed, and what it is used for. Also speaking: Tony Baldry, John Mitchell, Stuart Holland, John Clark, Archie Kirkwood. Presenter Terry Dignan. Engineer Dave Dawson.
