Description
Decision Makers, presented by Jo Andrews. Looks at the future of the arts in Britain, ahead of the planned abolition of six metropolitan councils and the Greater London Council next April. In the face of funding cuts and job losses, more than one hundred groups look set to fold in London alone. Also looks at how the Scottish arts have coped since regional councils officially pulled out of giving grants two years ago, and at the plans of the Arts Council and district councils to replace the metropolitan councils’ funding role. Contributions from Robin Anderson, Scottish Ballet; David Weeks, deputy leader of Westminster City Council; David Pratley, Arts Council; Simon Crine, Director of the National Campaign for the Arts; Stephen Remington, Director of Sadler’s Wells; Sally Medlin, North West Arts. Engineer: Colin Clements.
