This week’s edition of Our Kind of Town is presented by Keith Howell. In the first half Company Director of Lock and Co hatters (who invented the bowler), Frank Yardley(?), talks about the history of the hat, the process of hat making and their business. In the second half Dr Michael Russell from the smoking clinic at the Maudsley Hospital in South London talks about a new chewing gum, Nicorette, to help people give up smoking; the clinic’s work over the years; the health risks of smoking; and gives advice on giving up.
