Description
Our Kind of Town, presented by Keith Howell. This episode focuses on the London International Boat Show at Earls Court. Howell meets adventurer Kenneth Kerr, who attempted to row across the Atlantic Ocean but had to be rescued. Kerr describes how he is going to make another attempt at the journey in the same boat, Bass Conqueror. Howell also speaks to John Oakley, master of Lionheart, Britain’s entry in the America’s Cup, and fundraiser Elizabeth Jowett(?). Howell also speaks to satellite navigation expert Tony Johns(?); Cornish Crabbers managing director Peter Dealing(?); coastguard Gary Russell(?), who has been awarded the British Empire Medal. Russell describes rescuing people from Beachy Head. In two parts, divided by short break in audio.
