- Description
- The London Interview. Lawrence Spicer interviews Patrick Keatley, the Guardian newspaper’s diplomatic correspondent. Keatley says that while he was studying political science at university he survived by selling newspapers door-to-door before becoming a campus correspondent. He was involved in exposing the repatriation of Korean refugees by the Canadian Government after the Korean War. He joined the Manchester Guardian for a year before returning to Canada, but returned to Britain immediately on the invitation of editor Alfred P. Wadsworth. He says he has kept in touch with many of the world politicians whom he has met over the years, including Kenneth Kaunda and Joshua Nkomo, and has been greatly influenced by his former professor, Ivor Jennings. Interview in two parts, divided by break in audio.
