Description
Arts Week programme hosted by Richard Robbins (standing in for regular host Sue Jameson), with weekly review of the arts. Includes Robbins’ interviews with actress Nichola McAuliffe on Tennessee Williams’ play the Kingdom of Earth, in which she plays Myrtle; Robert Ashley on his Perfect Lives opera for television, premiering on Channel 4; director Lou Stein on his adaptation and direction of George Orwell’s Down and Out in Paris and London; keyboard player Malcolm Bilson who is performing on Deutsche Grammophone’s recording of all Mozart’s piano concertos on contemporary instruments. Also interviews by Sue Jameson with David Freeman of the Opera Factory on its forthcoming season at the Royal Court Theatre; by Carol Allen with author Garry O’Connor on his biography of Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, Darlings of the Gods. With extracts from the Perfect Lives opera and Mozart recording.
