Description
The US State Department is studying a three-point Iranian proposal. Iran wants the US to declare the Shah a criminal, set up an international committee to investigate the Shah’s crimes, and to return the Shah’s assets to Iran. The Iranian students who took hostages are opposed to the plan. A ban has been imposed on oil imports from Iran. The US hopes it might lead to a ban on oil exporting countries which back terrorism. But some Americans are scared the ban might affect the economy. California Governor Jerry Brown has signed a decree allowing petrol rationing. President Carter has cancelled a trip to Philadelphia. The reporter is Andrew Manderstam.
