Description
Unidentified male speaker on the Penlee lifeboat disaster of 19/12/81, in which eight lifeboat men from Mousehole, Cornwall lost their lives trying to rescue another vessel. Speaker says there were four fishermen on the crew, a seafarer, a post office engineer, a fish salesman and an hotelier. He says it is very unusual for a lifeboat of this type to sink. The lifeboat coxswain had refused to let the son of one of the crew aboard because he did not want to risk the lives of two members of one family. Male interviewer not identified.
