- Description
- London News Talk, presented by Simon Bates. Begins (after traffic and weather reports) with a summary of the day’s news followed by an interview with Mike Appleton, editor of the worldwide television transmission of Live Aid in 1985. He says there will be a TV programme to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the concert. The interview cuts out midway through and the recording switches to reverse playback. Health Secretary, Virginia Bottomley has announced the closure of St Barts Hospital in London. Simon Bates interviews Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., who has just written a book entitled Hell Of A War. Matthew Schofield reads the traffic update before Bates interviews journalist John Cole about his political memoirs. He also interviews Jenny Baker, author of French cookbook, Cuisine Grandmere. Female weather presenter not identified (addressed by Bates as Louise - poss. Louise Lear?).
