- Description
- Roger Cooper reports on the failed attempt to rescue US Embassy staff being held hostage in Tehran. Iranian officials initially disbelieved news of the mission, claiming it was impossible for American planes to enter Iranian airspace undetected. Diplomatic sources claim there is a secret US airbase ten miles from Tehran which could have been used by the Americans. The students holding the hostages have repeatedly threatened to kill them should the USA attempt military action.
