Description
Roger Cooper reports on the failed attempt to rescue US Embassy staff being held hostage in Tehran. Iranian officials initially disbelieved reports of the mission, claiming it was impossible for American planes to enter Iranian airspace undetected. Iranian radio reports later claimed that the Iranian military had intercepted the US aircraft. Cooper says it is unlikely the Americans would have been able to rescue more than a handful of hostages but it is unlikely that the hostages will be killed by their captors.
