- Description
- Unidentified male Middle East expert on the failure of the US operation to rescue embassy staff being held hostage in Tehran. Eight people were killed in an explosion during the refuelling of one of the rescue helicopters. The loss of fuel forced President Carter to abort the mission. It is estimated that if the operation had gone ahead, up to 30 Iranian students would probably have been killed to rescue the 50 American hostages. Male interviewer not identified.
