The campaign to improve the lot of thousands of war widows saw a victory today when the Government announced a £40 pound per week increase in pension for those who lost their husbands before 1973. Defence Secretary Tom King said the money would be from Government funds and was being given as an indication of the very special place that these widows hold in the affection of the public. War widow Maud K err, who is 76, gave her reaction as she listened to King’s statement. Male interviewer not identified (surname poss. Mates).
