- Description
- Report on the imprisonment of Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper, following his murder trial. It is likely Sutcliffe will spend most of his prison sentence in solitary confinement for his own safety. Justice Leslie Boreham said he should spend at least 30 years in jail. The reporter says it will cost £3 million to keep Sutcliffe in maximum security prison for 30 years, on top of the £4 million spent on the murder investigation and £45,000 on his trial. Includes interviews with Keighley MP, Bob Cryer; Peter Sutcliffe’s brother, Mick Sutcliffe; Beryl and David Leach, parents of murdered Barbara Leach. Male reporter not identified.
