Description

Report on the condition of a young skinhead (later named as Metal Mickey?) recovering this evening in hospital, hours after being shot by London police. The man kept hundreds of police at bay last night as he brandished a gun and threatened to shoot a man whom he had taken hostage in the busy West End. Witness Edmund Hall describes the scene. Jane Chandler, another witness, describes the police’s apprehension of the gunman. Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Scotland Yard, David Meynell gives his reasons for he ordering the shooting. George Matheson reports.
